When conflict arrises concerning custody and access rights to children by either parents or relatives (ex: grandparents), it might be necessary to undergo a Psychosocial Expertise. The Psychosocial Experise will allow Court to better understand both the parent’s situation and child’s needs and render a decision in the child’s best interest.

What is a psychosocial Expertise?

A Psychosocial Expertise is comprised of tests and interviews with all parties involved (generally parents) and children involved. The Psychosocial Expertise can ONLY be conducted either by a Licenced Social Worker or a Psychologist in Quebec, to allow a better understanding of the persons involved, the situation, and to formulate suggestions and reccomendations concerning the problem situation. The expert is not there to take position towards either parent and is guided by the child’s greater interest.

The Expert will support the Court in order to render a decision based of scientific facts (human sciences) and the Expert will express his professional opinion on the situation. The Expert can testify in Court if needed.

As a licenced Social Worker, I can conduct a Psychosocial Assessment in matters of Custody and Access Rights to Children. Do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
